One afternoon in 1841, 14-year-old Nakahama Manjirō was fishing when his boat capsized and an American whaleship rescued him. He travelled on the ship to the US, becoming the first Japanese person to visit this country. During his journey, he kept a journal to record his adventures. At this interactive program for kids 5 to 12 and their caregivers, you’ll learn more about Manjiro, explore his adventure journal and have the chance to create your own journal about adventures you’ve had so far this Summer.
