Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Lewis Carroll’s stunning original manuscript of the Alice story. Titled Alice’s Adventures Under Ground, the manuscript is adorned with Carroll’s own beautiful illustrations, and was given as a gift in 1863 to the real-life Alice who inspired in. Two years later the story would be published as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
The manuscript was bought at auction by none other than Dr. Rosenbach in 1928, and eventually gifted back to British Library following WWII. This five day pop-up display brings the manuscript back to Philadelphia for the first time since.
During this special exhibition, the Rosenbach will be open from 12:00 – 8:00 p.m.
