Salomé: drama en une acte. Paris: Librairie de l’art indépendant, and London: Elkin Mathews et John Lane, 1893. EL3 W672s 893 tp

After his American tour, Wilde became more focused on drama. He had seen the great Sarah Bernhardt perform on stage years earlier and she inspired him to write Salomé, which he composed in French, completed the manuscript in 1892 and publishing it in 1893. Here you see the pages with the dramatis personae and Wilde’s sketch of the stage from his manuscript and the title page of the published version.
