Description
Get an exclusive first look at our newest Behind the Bookcase tour Black Writers, the Jazz Age, and the Harlem Renaissance. Coordinator of Public Programs Isabel Stevens will take members on an exploration of our diverse collection of books, letters, and artifacts from some of the Harlem Renaissance’s most influential writers.
Be the first to hear the compelling stories of individuals who changed America and the world!
Beginning with Paul Laurence Dunbar, the first acclaimed Black poet after Emancipation, we’ll spend the bulk of our time with letters and first editions of poet Langston Hughes and philosopher Alain LeRoy Locke- including the keystone work of the Harlem Renaissance, Locke’s The New Negro.

Each program is dedicated to a different author, theme, or topic and grants a truly hands-on experience with materials in The Rosenbach’s inspiring collection.
