Bloomsday will be celebrated in a new digital format this year, in place of our annual festival on Delancey Place. Virtual Bloomsday will be streamed here on our website and on our Facebook page. Tune in any time between 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. New video content will be released every hour and all content will be available to view after the premiere if you aren’t able to tune in live.
The digital day-long marathon of James Joyce’s epic Ulysses will feature readings by familiar personalities, musical performances, and messages from Joyceans around the world. Additionally, The Rosenbach’s experts will share the histories of Bloomsday festivities and Joyce’s manuscript in The Rosenbach’s collection throughout the day.
If you haven’t already, we hope you’ll join the 900+ group members who have been following daily videos submitted by readers from around the world. Find Ulysses Every Day on our website and Facebook group. This virtual crowd of literature lovers has captured so much of the spirit of The Rosenbach’s annual Bloomsday festival, and we’re delighted to have you be a part of it.
Bloomsday 2020 is made possible through a generous grant from The Consulate General of Ireland’s Emigrant Support Programme. This project is also supported through the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, the Federal-State Partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Special thanks to Lenore H. Steiner and Perry A.
