Inspired by the true story of Manjiro, a 19th century fisherman who was shipwrecked at age of fourteen and traveled to Honolulu, join chef/owners Kiki Aranita and Chris Vacca of Poi Dog Philly for a make and taste class featuring poke. Poke is a diced raw fish dish that originates in Hawaii and has recently gained popularity in the U.S. mainland. Kiki and Chris will demonstrate the process of preparing poke and share more about the history of this unique recipe. This program is presented in partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Culinary Literacy Center.
