Join us as we celebrate the return of one of our prized Canterbury Tales manuscripts with talks about the fascinating new way it was restored, followed by readings in Middle English.
Judy Guston, Curator and Director of Collections, and Elizabeth Fuller, Librarian, will give a brief walk-through of the recent conservation of The Rosenbach’s important early Chaucer manuscript performed by the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA). They will discuss the history of the manuscript, details of its earlier organization and binding, and the scholarly input that helped determine the course of this novel approach to the conservation project. The talk will include slides of the manuscript as previously bound and of the conservation treatment in progress. The newly rebound manuscript will be shown to highlight the results of this extensive project.
