Description

The New York International Antiquarian Book Fair is one of the world’s most important marketplaces for the buying and selling of rare books, manuscripts, and printed artworks. It is also one of the book world’s leading annual social occasions. Booksellers, private collectors, and institutional representatives converge on the Park Avenue Armory to shop, converse, and immerse themselves in bookish community. To visit the fair is to see the rare book world at work and play.

Every year, Rosenbach staff and our Delancey Society journey north to New York, to experience the antiquarian book fair, visit the city’s cultural institutions, and get up close and personal with the Rosenbach’s collection development strategy. This year, the Delancey Society will kick off the weekend on Friday, April 5 with a private tour of the Thomas J. Watson Library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, followed by a cocktail reception at the University Club of New York. After a Delancey Society brunch at The East Pole on Saturday, April 6, members of the Rosenbach’s Department of Outreach & Engagement will lead tours of the book fair, with stops by the booths of leading booksellers for insights into the book trade—past, present, and future.
