Join the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Culinary Literacy Center for this teen-led program inspired by true story of Manjiro, a 19th century fisherman who was shipwrecked at the age of fourteen. In a small group setting, you’ll get a hands-on lesson on how to clean and cook seasonal seafood harvested regionally. Groups will be led by community chefs, fishery experts, and purveyors. Along the way, you’ll also learn about how Philadelphia teens contribute to an economically and culturally diverse program dedicated to connecting communities through fishing and food with the local organization Fishadelphia. Generous tastings included.

This program is presented alongside Manjiro: Drifting, 1841–2020
