    1:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Location

2008-2010 Delancey Place, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19103, United States

Even though the Shakespeare Read-Aloud is meeting in-person once again at The Rosenbach, we are going to continuing our virtual meetings as well. Meetings are on Zoom and we read the plays as a group, round-robin style. After you register, you’ll receive email instructions with the Zoom link a week before the program.

All readers are responsible for their own internet connection and we request that all readers be video-enabled to participate.

Reading plays aloud offers not only a communal way to enjoy these great works but also promotes a deeper understanding of their poetry and wordplay. No acting experience is required to participate—just bring your voice and a copy of the play!

The play this month is the second half of Hamlet

“If it be now, ’tis not to come; if it be not to come, it will be now; if it be not now, yet it will come. The readiness is all.”

We’ll continue Hamlet’s journey of revenge to its deadly conclusion.

We’re dividing Shakespeare’s longest play into two parts and will be finishing the play at this meeting, reading Act 3 sc 3 – end.

This event is completely free with advance registration. If you think you’d like to read aloud, please select the “I’d like to be a reader!” ticket; there are fifteen available. You also need to have your own copy of the play to read.
