Description

‘Tis the season! Don your best cigarette pants, jauntiest pillbox hat, and lucky penny loafers as we raise our martini glasses to poet Marianne Moore in our mid-century holiday soirée.

Moore’s preserved Greenwich Village apartment, along with the entire collection of her papers, is housed within the Rosenbach Museum and Library. An incredibly complex, and often surprising character, Moore counted the likes of Langston Hughes and Muhammed Ali among her friends. We’ll explore Moore’s life and work in the 1960s, with an exclusive show-and-tell of our holdings. In the spirit of the season, join the White Elephant book exchange! Bring any book that you’d like to share (new or used!) wrapped up for another guest to choose and you’ll go home with your own book in return. Kick off your holiday season with a new-to-you read selected by one of the Young Friends.  Arrive in your mid-century best for an evening of holiday cheer, poetry, and maybe an appearance by Marianne herself!
