Celebrating Young Voices of The Rosenbach

Tonight, we honor nearly three centuries of contributions from young writers, poets, and artists who transformed society through their passion and vision, and whose works are found in The Rosenbach collection today. Delve into the fascinating histories of the young people who inspired our sponsorship levels: Phillis Wheatley, Alice Dunbar-Nelson, Celia and Marion Moss, Nakahama “John” Manjiro, and Lord Byron with the following insights from our collections staff and messages from our supporters. The Rosenbach is one of the most vibrant intellectual and cultural centers of Philadelphia—a gathering place for public programming and discourse based on a world-class humanities collection. Our programs and exhibitions reach 10,000 event attendees, researchers, students, and literary lovers across Greater Philadelphia and the world every year. The Rosenbach’s annual fundraiser—The Rosenbacchanal—has grown to be a robust and sophisticated celebration of this Philadelphia treasure.

The Rosenbacchanal unites lovers of great literature and raises crucial funding to support our collection, programs, and work. This year, our guests will come together for Rosenbacchanal 2020: Young Voices of The Rosenbach, with the Philadelphia Youth Poet Laureate Mia Concepcion to honor nearly three centuries of contributions from young writers, poets, and artists who transformed society through their passion and vision, and whose works are found in The Rosenbach collection today. We miss seeing you at our programs and with our collections, but it is the Rosenbach community that makes our institution so special. Thank you, and we look forward to celebrating with you soon. Thank you!
